Situated in the popular commuter area of Hayes, Bromley, The George is served by a range of reliable transport links.

Seven Transport for London buses run through Hayes, including the 24 hour 119, which runs from Croydon to Bromley North, the 246 Westerham to Bromley North, and the 146 Downe to Bromley North.

If you’re travelling by train, The George is just a 12-minute walk from Hayes (Kent) station, which provides good links to the rest of south east London and the City.

Keeping Busy in Hayes

Located in the historic area of Hayes, London, The George is set within close proximity to a wide range of attractions and activities.

Although it’s within easy reach of central London, Hayes is also surrounded by plenty of natural attractions and ways to enjoy the great outdoors. High Elms Country Park offers 250 acres of countryside to explore, whilst Christmas Tree Farm is home to an array of farm animals and attractions.

There is also an abundance of playing fields and sports grounds around the area, including the world-famous Blackheath Harriers Athletics Club, Hayes Cricket Club, and Bromley FC. Whether you’re watching or playing, The George offers the perfect spot to refresh and refuel after a long day of sporting fun.

Down House, the former home of Charles Darwin, is located nearby in Downe. With its unique place in the history of science and evolution, the world famous Down House is one of the area’s finest historical attractions – stand in the study where ‘On the Origin of the Species’ was written, stroll through the gardens that inspired Darwin, and take an interactive tour around the house with Sir David Attenborough.
